PMC (Pakistan Medical Commission) has been dissolved by PM, Shehbaz Sharif, according to sources.
As per the notification by federal government, PM suspended all the officers of the council and dissolved the commission.
In 2019, President Dr Arif Alvi enacted an ordinance which dissolved the PMDC (Pakistan Medical and Dental Council) and established PMC.
However, the ordinance was extended till 2020 September, when a joint sitting of Parliament the Imran Khan-led government passed the two bills to replace PMDC with PMC, amid opposition from the incumbent coalition parties in the government.
As soon as the government of Shehbaz Sharif came to power, the sources has confirmed the revival of PMC into the PMDC according to the federal government decision.
In additional, it was reported that the Pakistan Peoples Party wanted to revert PMC into the PMDC .
