The Punjab government has changed the promotion rules of around 400,000 teachers providing most of the benefits to the primary and middle school teachers.
Now as per rules revival, the primary school teacher can be promoted to BS 17 whereas, the elementary school teacher could be to BS 19.
However, the senior teacher could be given raise to even BS 20.
The Punjab Teachers Union hailed the decision of provincial education board stating that the update in promotion rules is beneficial as teachers wouldn’t have to wait years for their promotion.
