Ramiz Raja, head of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has encouraged fans to give Babar Azam and the team some room to breathe. The PCB boss looked impressed with Pakistan team’s recent performance and wants people to forgive a couple of bad performances.
“This team played Asia Cup final, beat India so they should be given some time. Bad performance in one or two matches should be given away,” Raja said. Cricket fans criticized Pakistani team after they lost to Sri Lanka in T20 Asia Cup 2022 final. Mahela Jayawardene recently backed Babar, saying that Pakistan missed his form in the Asia Cup, and that all good players go through a tough phase and come back stronger.
Shaheen Shah Afridi matter
Shahid Khan Afridi, a former spectacular all-rounder, said last week that the PCB did not provide financial assistance to Shaheen for rehabilitation. Shahid’s statements generated controversy on social media, prompting the PCB to give clarification.”I don’t know how people can say that we don’t take care of our players,” he responded. “We can’t even think of leaving our players. Shaheen is there, Fakhar is there and we are taking care of them,” he added. “Shaheen is doing good and he will definitely be available for T20 World Cup,” the PCB boss shared.
