With the collaboration of the World Bank, the Sindh government would introduce a housing project of Rs110 billion of worth for the flood affectees for which a special unit would be established under the chief secretary.
This was decided recently during an online meeting between Syed Murad Ali Shah Sindh Chief Minister and World Bank Country Director for Pakistan Najy Benhassine.
Murad Ali Shah already assigned teams in order to clear the water from flooded areas of the province. “The de-watering process is in progress and hopefully within one-and-a-half months, it will be completed,” he added.
He confirmed the World Bank country director that the government would start construction once the flood water had been drained off.
CM stated that winter season is just around the corner because of which provincial government want to make housing arrangements for the flood affectees.
He urged the World Bank to finance the housing project. After a thoughtful discussion in a meeting the CM and the World Bank country director decided to introduce the project of worth Rs110 billion, for which a firm would be established which would be under the control of the chief secretary.
Both the parties agreed that the CEO (chief executive officer) of the firm with the support of the public and private sector and would start the construction of the houses for which a survey was in process.
