Umran Malik, the newest speed sensation for Team India, believes that if he is “fortunate” enough, he can break Shoaib Akhtar’s record for the fastest ball internationally.
However, the 23-year-old from Jammu and Kashmir claimed that his main goal is to bowl well for Team India, not to match Akhtar’s achievement.
At the 2003 World Cup in South Africa, former Pakistani speedster Shoaib Akhtar bowled the quickest ball in cricket history.
Akhtar became the first bowler to surpass the 100 mph barrier in international cricket history when one of his deliveries against New Zealand was timed at 161.3 kmph.
