The cost of a number of non-immigrant employment-based visas, including H-1B and L visas, has been recommended to increase by up to 200 percent by US authorities.
The suggestions, which are contained in a 602-page document, state that the principal price for an H-1B visa will increase to $1,595 from $470 and that those applying for investment-linked green cards will now have to pay $11,160 instead of the previous $3,675.
The H1-B visa is the most sought-after among technology and financial corporations, colleges, and other nonprofit research centers. It enables immigrants with college degrees to live and work in the U.S. for six years before becoming permanent citizens.
