Govt’s Top Priority Is to Complete Master Plan for 10 Cities: PM Imran Khan

Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Thursday that the government’s top priority is to complete master plans for 10 major cities as soon as possible to prevent unplanned growth and to designate separate areas for farming, lodging, and business operations.

“We are the first government to focus on this issue, and we want cities to have high-rise zones so that they don’t spread and food security isn’t jeopardized,” Imran Khan said in response to a question about the loss of agricultural lands across the country as a result of the mushrooming housing colonies.

He stated that his government would present a new plan for food security and to address this critical issue early next month. “For the first time, a government is revising the master plan of all [major] cities, and we want the cities to rise upwards, as expanding cities place a huge burden on the provision of essential services such as electricity, water, sewerage, and sanitation.”

He indicated that his government would present a new food security plan early next month to address this critical issue. “For the first time, a government is revising the master plan of all [major] cities, and we want the cities to rise upwards, as expanding cities put a huge strain on essential services like electricity, water, sewerage, and sanitation.”

He stated that the cities’ master plans were in various stages of completion and that the first few would be available by the middle of the year. Imran Khan expressed his eagerness to see all of his government’s projects come to fruition, including the launch of two new megacities and a Central Business District at Lahore’s old Walton airport.
