Riz Ahmed belonging to Pakistani-origin made an Oscar history of Monday by becoming the first Muslim who got nominated for lead actor of Oscar.
For Minari, Steven Yuen also became the first Asian-American who just got nominated for the same role as best actor; however, he will be competing against Riz, who is the first star nominee of Pakistani-origin.
Riz received the nomination of his role in the Sound of Metal, whereas he also became the first Muslim and the Pakistani nominee for lead actor of Oscar.
Riz Ahmed has also captured the Golden Globe nomination for the “Sound of Metal” in the early days of this year.
Mahershala Ali was the first Muslim actor who won an Oscar for supporting actor and won a trophy along with an award for the ‘Moonlight’. However, in 2019 he also received a prize for ‘Green Book’’.
