Govt to Shut Down Markets & Shopping Malls in Karachi by 8:30 PM to Save Electricity

According to the energy conservation plan, which requires that all markets close at 8:30 p.m., the federal government has given the Sindh government instructions to execute it.

It is important to note that the federal cabinet has authorised the energy saving strategy, as Federal Defense Minister Khawaja Asif revealed last month. All markets and shopping centres must close by 8:30 p.m., and wedding venues must close at 10:00 p.m., according to the approved energy conservation plan.

Khawaja Asif, speaking to the media after a cabinet meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, announced that the strategy for energy conservation will enable Pakistan to save between 8,000 and 9,000 megawatts of electricity and Rs 62 billion annually.

In a letter to Chief Minister (CM) Sindh Murad Ali Shah, the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination implores him to see to it that the province’s energy saving strategy is implemented.

The instruction states that each Deputy Commissioner (DC) will carry out the energy programme in their respective jurisdictions. All of the Deputy Commissioners (DC) were directed by Commissioner Karachi to submit a report on the program’s execution.
