Pakistan to observe ‘Earth Hour’ Tonight by Turning Off All Lights

Same as other parts of the global, In Pakistan the annual ‘Earth Hour’ will be observed tonight with the theme “Give an Hour for Earth”.

Thousands of people all around the world celebrate the day by turning off the unnecessary lights for an hour.

A huge number of persons around the globe play the role in reducing carbon emissions by turning off unnecessary lights and electronic devices for one hour to celebrate Earth Hour to protect the environment.

Antonio Guterres UN Secretary-General requested that all the lights to be switched off for an hour tonight at 8pm. During Earth Hour, environmental action would be taken on a large scale, he stated.

He said, “We all have to play our role in climate action. I appeal to all the citizens of the world wherever they are to turn off their lights for one hour at 8 pm local time,”.

The initiative is introduced by WWF (World Wildlife Fund) in 2007, is part of an annual tradition to raise awareness about climate change.

It is noteworthy that the United Nation observes Earth Hour every year in the night of the last week of March all around the globe including Pakistan, with an objective of inviting people to thought about the negative effects of pollution and other factors on the environment.
