One of Italy’s most well-known landmarks, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, is renowned for both its distinctive architectural style and its recognizable wobble. The tower is entirely empty inside, but many people might not be aware of this.
Authorities in the area claim that once worries about the tower’s safety surfaced in the 1990s, it was decided to keep it unoccupied. For more than ten years, the tower was off-limits to the public as professionals worked to correct its lean, which had gotten to a dangerous inclination of 5.5 degrees.
The tower’s base was judged to be insufficient at this time to sustain a heavy interior, such as bells or other large things.
The tower was reopened to the public in 2001 when the stabilization process was finished, however, it was empty of any interior furnishings or decorations.
