Iranian President Invites Saudi king to visit Tehran

A spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry announced on Monday that Iran has formally invited the king of Saudi Arabia to visit the nation after the two long-time enemies in the region reached a truce in March through the mediation of China.

Iran and the Kingdom came to an agreement to break their seven-year diplomatic schism after years of terrible relations that fuelled proxy wars around the Middle East, where Tehran and Riyadh supported opposing forces from Yemen to Syria.

Nasser Kanaani said in a televised news conference that the Saudi monarch received an invitation from Riyadh in exchange for the Iranian president (Ebrahim Raisi) sending one to him.

Both technical delegations are getting ready to formally re-launch their missions, and Tehran said that these missions would resume operations by May 9, according to Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News agency.
