Petition Filed in Supreme Court for Restoration of Punjab and KP Assemblies

Another petition was filed in the Supreme Court for the restoration of Punjab and KP assemblies.

It was argued in the petition that the continuation of the caretaker governments would be a violation of the constitution, requesting that the court order the restoration of the elected assemblies of Punjab and KP.

In the petition filed by a citizen named Rai Ishtiaq, it has been argued that since the elections were not held within the stipulated constitutional period, both the provincial assemblies should be restored.

The petition said that elections were not held in the two provinces during the period given in the constitution, the supreme court’s decision to hold elections is also not being implemented.

The federal government, the Election Commission and the Ministry of Defense were made parties in the petition.

Caretaker chief ministers and governors of the two provinces were also included in the parties. The citizen also made the finance ministry and home ministry parties to the petition.
