Qatar to Become First Muslim Country to Host Basketball’s World Cup in 2027

Qatar has been nominated as the host of the 2027 Basketball World Cup for Men, making the first time that the country will host this major event.

Qatar has become prominent for hosting major global sports events, as the country has recently hosted the men’s FIFA World Cup last year. The declaration was made by the International Basketball Federation which picked Qatar to host the tournament following a successful offer. This match will take place at already existing basketball stadiums in the capital city of Doha.

Men’s Basketball World Cup 2023 is known to be scheduled to take place from August 25 to September 10 in areas of the Philippines, Indonesia, and Japan. Qatar, however, has not been able to book a spot among the 32 teams taking place in this year’s tournament.

After the smooth happening of the FIFA World Cup 2022, the choice of Qatar as the host of the 2027 Men’s Basketball World Cup is sure to increase excitement levels among basketball fans across the globe. The country’s modern framework, along with its experience in hosting prestigious sports events, makes it a perfect location for the Basketball tournament in 2027.
