Sources have informed GeoSuper.tv that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has initiated communication with various cricket boards as a contingency plan in case the Asia Cup is canceled in September this year.
It is reported that the PCB is reluctant to host the entire tournament at a neutral venue, as mandated by the Board of Control for Cricket in India.
“There are only two options, either play in Pakistan or accept the hybrid model. Hosting the entire tournament outside Pakistan will waste all the efforts of bringing international cricket to the country. It will also affect the Champions Trophy in Pakistan in 2025,” sources said.Â
In the event that the Asia Cup is canceled or if India decides to organize a five-nation tournament resembling the Asian event, Pakistan is planning to participate in bilateral or triangular series as part of their preparations for the ICC World Cup in India.
Reliable sources indicate that PCB has already begun reaching out to various cricket boards. The boards of South Africa, Zimbabwe, Ireland, and West Indies are being considered as potential participants for the series during the same time slot as the Asia Cup.
