Former Pakistani cricket captain Shahid Afridi believes that it would be a huge humiliation for India to be defeated by Pakistan in a major cricket tournament, especially on their home ground. Afridi urged the management to encourage the national players to participate in the World Cup and bring back the trophy.
He suggested that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) should approach the situation positively and send the team to India, emphasizing the support of the nation. Afridi expressed that winning the tournament would not only be a significant victory for Pakistan but also a strong message to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
He acknowledged that the PCB has limited options and going to India and performing well is the best choice available. Afridi emphasized the importance of separating cricket from politics and previously advocated for hosting the Asia Cup in Pakistan. He highlighted the historical rivalry between Pakistan and India and expressed disappointment that the two teams have not played on each other’s home grounds since 2012.
