First ICU Ventilator, i-LIVE Developed by PAEC

In the midst of the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) declared that it had built its own intensive care unit (ICU) ventilator, named as “i-LIVE.”

The “i-LIVE” ventilator not only passed all internal reviews and testing, but it also passed independent reviews and testing performed by the Pakistan Innovation and Technology Centre (PITC) and Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) during the development lifecycle.

In addition, senior doctors, biomedical engineers, and medical experts oversaw comprehensive clinical trials of i-LIVE at the Jinnah Hospital in Lahore. It’s worth noting that the ventilator passed both engineering and medical validation successfully.

The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan has given the ventilator formal approval, licencing, and registration, according to PAEC Spokesperson Shahid Riaz Khan (Drap). “After receiving DRAP’s approval, PAEC will manufacture and supply i-LIVE to meet the essential needs of our hospitals.”
