Mullah Mohammad Nasr Akhund Appointed Afghanistan’s New Finance Minister

The Taliban government has also changed the finance minister after the prime minister, Mullah Mohammad Nasir Akhund will be the new finance minister.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said on Twitter that Mullah Nasir Akhund has been appointed as the finance minister.

According to Ahmad Wali Haqmal, a spokesman for afghanistan’s interim government’s finance ministry, Nasir Akhund had previously served as deputy of the Economic Commission for the Taliban.

According to Zabihullah Mujahid, Mullah Abdul Qadir Idrees has been given the portfolio of Deputy Minister of Energy, Water and Power and Deputy Minister of Revenue and Customs.

Haji Abdul Qadir Ahmed, another assistant to the Bank of Afghanistan, has been appointed as deputy financial affairs to the finance ministry, he added.
