Haroon Khan Wins Back-to-Back Fights in World Taekwondo Championship

Haroon Khan, a Pakistani taekwondo athlete from Balochistan, has achieved consecutive victories in the ongoing World Taekwondo Championship in Baku. Competing in the 58kg category, Haroon won his first fight against Uros Belanovic with a score of 2-0. He dominated the fight, taking an early lead in the first round and winning by 14-6. In the second round, he continued his strong performance, countering his opponent and securing a 17-10 victory.

Following his first fight, Haroon faced off against Mustafa Mansoor from Egypt. Although Mustafa took the lead in the first round, Haroon made a remarkable comeback, winning the next two rounds and securing back-to-back victories. With these wins, Haroon has qualified for the round of 16 in the championship.

It is important to note that the World Taekwondo Championship serves as a pathway to qualify for the Paris Olympics. To be eligible for Paris Olympics qualification, athletes must meet certain requirements.

These include winning medals in designated competitions, achieving rankings within the World Taekwondo ranking system, reaching the round of 16 or higher in the WT World Taekwondo Championships, advancing to the quarter-finals or higher in Continental Taekwondo Championships or Qualification Tournaments, and winning their national Taekwondo championships. These requirements must be fulfilled between June 1, 2022, and May 1, 2024.
