The Anti-Corruption Establishment in Sialkot has arrested a Deputy Director of the Social Welfare Department over an alleged Rs15,000 bribery case. The official, identified as Sharif Ghumman, is accused of demanding money from an employee in return for helping facilitate his transfer, according to the FIR.
The Anti-Corruption team carried out a raid as part of the investigation and allegedly caught the official accepting the money.The incident has led to further action as authorities investigate the alleged obstruction during the raid along with the bribery complaint.
Officials have reiterated that government employees involved in corrupt practices will face legal action. The case is expected to proceed according to the findings of the ongoing investigation.
Authorities have also stressed the importance of preventing misuse of public offices and ensuring that government services are provided without illegal payments or personal influence.
The arrest is part of efforts by anti-corruption authorities to address complaints involving government officials and hold those accused of misconduct accountable through legal proceedings.
