World’s First 5G Cruise Ship Unveiled in China

China has launched its first domestically built cruise ship called Adora Magic City, also known as “Mo Du,” in Shanghai. This cruise ship is considered the world’s first 5G ship. It has 2,125 rooms and can accommodate around 5,246 passengers when fully occupied. The construction of the ship began in 2019 and was carried out by Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation.

According to reports from Chinese People’s Daily and Global Times, the Adora Magic City is an incredibly complex product, consisting of over 25 million individual parts. This makes it more complex than China’s first domestic aircraft, the C919, and the “Fuxing” bullet train, with five times and 13 times the number of individual parts, respectively.

The cruise ship will undergo two sea trials in July and August before being officially launched for commercial operations next year.
