Okku Dubai Reopening After Being Closed for Five Years

Dubai’s renowned Japanese restaurant, Okku.com, is set to make a triumphant comeback after being closed for five years. The popular restaurant, previously located at The H Dubai hotel on Sheikh Zayed Road, is now reopening at the Marriott Resort Palm Jumeirah on June 12. Okku’s founder, Ramzy Abdul-Majeed, announced the exciting news on LinkedIn.

Retaining the Classics

The new venue at Marriott Resort Palm Jumeirah will feature a restaurant, lounge, and bar, offering an immersive dining experience for guests. Okku aims to retain about 90% of its original menu. By ensuring that old favorites like hushihu salad, ginger salmon sashimi, and dynamite kani will still be available. The head chef, who worked at the original Okku, will replicate these dishes, providing a taste of nostalgia for returning customers.

Apart from the delectable menu, the revamped Okku will boast an updated layout and décor. The Japanese influence will be evident from the lantern-lit hallway entrance. Moreover, LED screens will now showcase photorealistic recreations of jellyfish, replacing the original aquariums. The women’s powder room will offer an immersive experience with scenic views on its walls.

The restaurant’s design will feature 3D-printed samurai statues and an industrial aesthetic with stone walls, exposed ceilings, and modern yet plush seating. A central bar will create a cohesive ambiance. Furthermore, A 20 meter long sushi bar and robata grill area will allow guests to witness skilled chefs in action. Additionally, there will be a dedicated DJ area and a private dining room for special occasions.

Okku.com reopening signifies a return to its glory days from 2009 to 2018. With its fusion of flavors and immersive atmosphere, Okku is poised to once again captivate Dubai’s dining scene. So, get ready to savor the exquisite Japanese cuisine and indulge in an unforgettable dining experience.
