Passport Issue: Lionel Messi Released After Being Detained by Chinese Police

The Football megastar, Lionel Messi got detained by Chinese Police as he did not have Argentinian passport. The footballer reached Beijing on Saturday, for a friendly match before he joins Major League Soccer’s Inter Miami.

Upon reaching the airport, Messi was detained temporarily by Chinese border police. They also investigated him; however, he was later released as Messi showed his Spanish Passport. Moreover, it was Messi’s 7th trip to China, and he is to pay in the Australia-Argentina match scheduled for Thursday in China, made the doubts of police clear.

Messi’s huge fan following made the news a trending topic on Chinese social media and worldwide with his pictures at the airport.
