88% Work is Completed for the First CPEC Hydropower Project

Asim Saleem Bajwa, the Chairman of CPEC- China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Authority has recently shared officially that 88% of the work has been completed for Karot Hydropower Project.

Chairman said that, “the first CPEC hydropower project is expected to be completed expectedly in April 2022; however, it is built on River Jhelum.

He shared the details of this Karot Hydropower Project in his tweet where he said that the investment of this project is amounted to $1,780 million while the 5,000 local people were also directly employed for the construction of this project.

This Karot Hydropower Project of 720-megawatt was initially due to be completed last year in 2020. However, it has the capability and potential to generate 3.249 billion units of the clean electricity annually for the national grid of the country.
