Suzuki Motor Corp, a Japanese automaker, has announced a collaboration with SkyDrive Inc to produce “flying cars.” They plan to use a Suzuki Group factory in central Japan to manufacture electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.
Production is expected to begin in spring next year. To facilitate the manufacturing process, SkyDrive will establish a subsidiary for aircraft production, and Suzuki will provide support in areas such as talent acquisition. SkyDrive is based in Toyota, Japan, and has major shareholders including Itochu Corp, NEC Corp, and a subsidiary of Eneos Holdings Inc.
This collaboration builds on a research, development, and marketing agreement signed by the two companies in March of the previous year.
