Photographer Steven Haining and model Ciara Antoski achieved the deepest underwater photo shoot ever recorded. Located near Tobermory, Ontario, Canada, the shoot took place 32 feet below the water’s surface. The idea for the shoot originated during the COVID-19 pandemic when photographers faced limitations in working within studios. To overcome this, Haining and his team organized a photo shoot in the chilly waters of Tobermory, renowned as the shipwreck capital of the world.
The photo shoot was highly successful and eventually received recognition from the Guinness World Records as the deepest underwater photo shoot featuring a model. Haining mentioned that prior to the pandemic, he had already been experimenting with underwater portraiture in controlled environments such as pools. In a light-hearted manner, he jokingly suggested to his team that they could wear dive gear to ensure private air supplies and safety during the shoot. Surprisingly, this joke turned into a real plan, resulting in the successful underwater photo shoot.
