More Than 100 Pakistani Female Doctors Offering Telemedicine Support to Palestinians

More than a hundred Pakistani women doctors in over a dozen countries joined hands with their counterparts through a technology-driven initiative providing medical support and care to thousands of people under trauma in Gaza and other bombarded cities, officials and people attached said on Sunday, as the nation expresses anger through demonstrations against Israel and shares solidarity with the people of Palestine.

They claimed that the female doctors were reintroduced to the province health system as a result of a technology-driven program by Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS), one of the country’s oldest public sector medical institutes. It has so far succeeded in bringing back to the profession hundreds of Pakistani lady doctors who had left the profession owing to familial or social reasons.

“A project called ‘eDoctor’ was launched about two years ago for roughly 35,000 female doctors who had completed their medical studies at the expense of the state or privately but were no longer involved with the profession so that they might once again become part of the country’s medical workforce,” an official stated.

Hundreds of doctors working from home in Pakistan and other parts of the world are currently contributing to the health system through the eDcotor project, as per the official.
