Quiqup, a Dubai-based logistics startup, has recently raised $5.5 million in an investment round led by Delivery Hero, which was announced in an official statement. The round was joined by Lebanon’s Cedar Mundi, Trasnmed, and the New York-based Jobi Capital.

Quiqup is a startup that provides on-demand, same-day, as well as scheduled delivery solutions to retailers either online or offline as to the restaurants of all sizes in the UAE- the United Arab Emirates.

The restaurants of UAE can book an on-demand courier to just deliver the food to their customers through this service of Quiqup’s dashboard or API integrations, which could easily book a courier whenever an order is received by the customer. The order is picked-up just within 15 minutes and gets delivered to the customer within the time of 50 minutes.

The businesses can manage and track all the orders through the dashboard, and the customers can also track the courier live either on the app or website only if they have integrated the option for them or through a given link.

All online retailers can also offer same-day delivery to their customers after integrating with Quiqup’s API through their app or website. They can easily split the delivery cost also with the customers. Offline retailers can also avail the opportunity to book same-day deliveries through their dashboard. They can also have an option to just book scheduled deliveries like including recurring ones for the future.

As per a statement, Quiqup uses a pay-as-you-go model for charging the businesses just for every delivered order. It has a fleet that is of over 3,000 couriers currently that are serving more than 800 businesses by using its services. The last quarters of the year have already been seen as a favorable trend accelerating the company’s growth and development and also helping to double the size of the business in the year 2020.

The startup originally had started in London, and it had raised over $35 million before this recent investment round. It had also expanded to the UAE- United Arab Emirates in the year 2017 with its launch in Dubai. Quiqup also shut down its UK operations in 2019 and moved its complete headquarters in UAE, Dubai. However, the startup still has a technology development office in London.

The co-founder and the CEO of Quiqup, said that the current pandemic had enabled them to turn the challenges into opportunities. They managed to just quickly expand by diversifying their portfolio to include a new sector like pharmaceutical clients and also to add more grocery businesses. This positive development opened up a whole new universe of customers like clients, which encouraged them to raise some further investment in the future.

Lyad commenting on the occasion said, we have a unique and transformative business model that will be a game-changer for this region. Same-day delivery is like the next frontier in e-commerce logistics, and here Quiqup has what it takes just to crack the model.
