Iran has said that its defence cooperation with Russia and China remains active and has neither been suspended nor reduced, rejecting reports that military ties with the two countries have come to a halt.
An Iranian defence official said military and technical collaboration with Moscow and Beijing is continuing, despite international pressure and sanctions. According to the official, Tehran remains engaged with both countries on defence-related matters based on mutual interests and existing strategic partnerships.
The official described reports suggesting that Iran had stopped or scaled back its defence cooperation with Russia and China as baseless. He added that Tehran continues to pursue collaboration in areas considered important to its national defence and strategic interests.
Iran has strengthened its defence relations with both Russia and China in recent years, with cooperation involving military exercises, defence technology and weapons-related development.
The three countries have also increased their strategic coordination through platforms such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), reflecting their broader efforts to expand security and defence partnerships.
