Inflation Would Start Coming Down from July: Shaukat Tarin

In an interview with a private television channel, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Shaukat Tarin explained that the present higher trend in inflation was due to a rise in food costs, and that inflation would begin to fall in July this year.

He also attributed rising inflation on huge tariff margins between farmers and wholesalers, claiming that there was widespread exploitation that needed to be addressed.

He stated that the government intends to use administrative steps and construct storage facilities to create strategic reserves of five basic commodities in order to prevent hoarders from flooding the market when an item is in limited supply.

Furthermore, he believed that there would be a base impact on inflation during the months of July, August, and September because inflation was extremely high during those months in the previous year.
