In preparation for Independence Day, the Queens borough in New York City has named a road in honor of Pakistan’s national poet, Allama Iqbal. The road is now called “Allama Iqbal Avenue.”
A ceremony was held in the Richmond Hill district of Queens to officially unveil the new road name. The event was attended by many people who enthusiastically chanted “Pakistan zindabad” (Long live Pakistan) and waved flags.
This ceremony represents the successful efforts of Pakistani-Americans, with the American-Pakistani Advocacy Group (APAG), a non-profit organization, playing a significant role.
The leader of APAG, Ali Rashid, expressed his pride and happiness, considering this dedication as a meaningful gift for both the Pakistani-American community and Pakistan itself, especially on the occasion of Independence Day.
