Punjab Police has taken disciplinary action against 588 officers and personnel over alleged corruption and misconduct, as part of a recent internal crackdown. The action was reported on September 14, 2026, under Inspector General Punjab Rao Abdul Karim.
According to police sources, 178 personnel were suspended, while 53 were dismissed from service. The remaining cases involved other forms of disciplinary action. The drive followed 185 intelligence reports and 69 complaints from citizens.
The action was reported across several districts. Lahore had the highest number with 56 cases, followed by Rahim Yar Khan with 37, Multan with 30, Nankana Sahib with 27 and Bhakkar with 25.
Personnel from different ranks were included, including 154 sub-inspectors, 123 assistant sub-inspectors, 52 head constables, 147 constables and 44 traffic police officials.
Some officials were accused of helping drug traffickers and changing information linked to drug-related cases. The IGP has also ordered closer checks at police stations and licensing offices to improve monitoring and accountability.
