Babar Azam Became Second Player in the World to Score 10 T20 Hundreds

Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, achieved an impressive feat by scoring his 10th century in T20 cricket during the Lanka Premier League (LPL) on Monday. He’s now the second player ever, after Chris Gayle, to achieve this with 10 centuries in this type of cricket.

Chris Gayle, known as the ‘Universe Boss,’ holds the record with 22 centuries in 463 matches. Babar’s accomplishment is remarkable as he’s following in the footsteps of such a famous player.

Babar has scored T20 hundreds in different leagues and tournaments, including international matches, Vitality Blast, National T20 Cup, and the Pakistan Super League (PSL). His latest century was while playing for Colombo Strikers against Gale Gladiators in the LPL.

It’s worth noting that Babar’s century in the LPL not only brought his total to 10 centuries but also made him the fourth-ever player to score a century in the history of the LPL tournament.

With this achievement, Babar Azam also becomes the only Asian cricketer with 10 T20 centuries. Former Indian captain Virat Kohli is the second Asian on this list with eight centuries.

During his recent century, Babar played an outstanding innings, showcasing his signature cover drives, hitting boundaries, and achieving five maximums. He and Pathum Nissanka formed a strong partnership, contributing to Colombo Strikers’ seven-wicket victory over Gale Gladiators.

Participating in the LPL is important for Babar as he gets ready for major upcoming tournaments like the Asia Cup and ICC World Cup. He had mentioned earlier that the tournament would help him adjust to different playing conditions in Asia.
