‘We Can’t Forget 1992 World Cup and its Victorious Captain’: Wahan Riaz on PCB’s Minus Imran Khan Video

Former fast bowler Wahab Riaz expressed his disagreement on Wednesday with the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) choice to not include cricket legend Imran Khan in a video that highlighted the national team’s historic achievements since it started in 1952.
Speaking at a press conference where he announced his retirement from international cricket, Riaz criticized the PCB’s decision to leave out Imran Khan, who is also the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), from the video. Riaz, who will now play in international T20 leagues, talked about how he looked up to players like Khan, Akram, and Younis when he was young.
“These players were like our heroes. They motivated us to play cricket. The memories of the ’92 World Cup and its captain will always stay in our minds,” Riaz said, referring to Khan leading Pakistan to its first-ever World Cup victory.
Riaz stressed that Khan’s influence as a cricketer is still strong and believed that the younger generation will continue to admire their cricket heroes.
