With the onset of winter, travelers from the UAE are in for a delightful opportunity to explore the enchanting landscapes of Musandam, characterized by its serene blue waters surrounded by breathtaking hills. Commencing on October 6, 2023, a new bus route connecting Musandam to Ras Al Khaimah will be introduced, marking a significant step in enhancing cross-border transportation and accessibility for tourists and residents alike.
The Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority (RAKTA) has taken the initiative to launch the first international public bus service, establishing a vital link between Ras Al Khaimah in the UAE and the Governorate of Musandam in the Sultanate of Oman. This development is expected to facilitate seamless travel between the two regions, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the natural beauty and cultural richness of Musandam.
The bus route will commence from Ras Al Khaimah’s main bus station, culminating in the Wilayat of Khasab, a popular destination in Musandam known for its stunning fjords and outdoor activities. Travelers can look forward to two journeys scheduled at 8am and 6pm on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, with a travel time of approximately 3 hours.
To make the service easily accessible, RAKTA has set the one-way journey cost at Dh50, offering multiple booking options, including the official RAKTA website, the RAKBUS application, on the bus itself, and at the bus station.
This significant cross-border transportation service resulted from an agreement signed between RAKTA and the Municipality of Musandam on August 30, 2023, showcasing the commitment of both entities to promote regional tourism, foster cultural exchange, and provide convenient travel options for the public. The new bus route promises to open up exciting opportunities for travelers to explore the natural wonders of Musandam and strengthen the ties between these neighboring regions.
