Babar Azam’s Private Chat Leaked Online

People on the internet and former cricketers are very upset about a private WhatsApp conversation between Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, and a senior official from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) being made public. They see it as a breach of privacy and unethical.

This controversy gained more attention when former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif said that PCB management was not responding to Babar Azam’s messages. He mentioned on a TV channel that Babar had been trying to reach out to top PCB officials for two days, but no one was replying.

The issue was also discussed on a news channel where they showed a screenshot of the alleged WhatsApp chat between the two. This chat suggested that Babar had not been calling the Chairman, which contradicts what was previously said.

During a TV show, former Pakistan cricketer Azhar Ali questioned the reporter about whether they had Babar Azam’s permission to reveal a private chat. The reporter responded that, as a journalist, consent wasn’t required, which upset many people on the internet who called it unethical.

The show’s anchor, Waseem Badami, later apologized on behalf of the TV team. He explained that they had initially decided not to air the chat but changed their minds after seeing a video clip of the PCB chief that seemed to allow it. Badami admitted that it was wrong to show a private conversation without consent and promised not to repeat the mistake.

However, it was pointed out that the PCB chief’s permission wasn’t relevant since he wasn’t one of the people in the private chat. People are waiting for an official statement from the PCB for more clarity.
