Babar Azam in Elite Company After New Zealand World Cup Victory

In an impressive accomplishment, the Pakistan cricket team achieved its highest-ever successful chase in One Day Internationals (ODIs) by defeating Australia in the second ODI at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium in 2022. Captain Babar Azam and opener Imam ul Haq both scored centuries, leading Pakistan to a thrilling victory as they successfully chased a target of 349 runs with six wickets and six balls to spare.

This historic win marked Pakistan’s best successful chase in ODIs, surpassing their previous record of chasing 327 runs against Bangladesh in 2014. It’s worth noting that Pakistan has only managed to chase a target of 300 or more runs in ODIs seven times out of 54 instances when faced with such challenging targets.

Pakistan posted a strong total of 352-4 in the match, making it their second-highest total when batting second and the highest total ever against Australia in ODIs, surpassing their previous best score of 315/8 achieved at the same venue in 1998.
