Pakistani captain Babar Azam praised Fakhar Zaman for his remarkable performance against New Zealand, which led to a crucial 21-run victory (DLS method) for Pakistan in Bengaluru, India, on November 4.
In a video shared by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Babar expressed his admiration for Fakhar’s innings, stating that as long as Fakhar was batting, they believed they could even chase a target as high as 450.
Babar mentioned that after each six Fakhar hit, he advised him not to take unnecessary risks, but Fakhar continued to play aggressively. Babar’s perspective was that this was one of the best innings he had witnessed.
Babar also discussed how they didn’t consider the possibility of rain during the match, and their sole focus was on pursuing the target set by New Zealand. When rain did arrive, they had to calculate the DLS method to guide their approach.
Sitting beside Babar, Fakhar mentioned that the pitch in this match was the most favorable for batting among all the wickets they encountered in the World Cup. He emphasized that it was an excellent batting wicket, and this innings was one of his favorites, considering the situation and the runs he contributed.
It’s worth noting that Pakistan has a crucial match against England on November 11 in Kolkata, which they must win.
