Ahsan Ramzan, 16, has qualified for the final of the 46th National Snooker Championship, becoming the youngest player to do so. After winning three junior titles in the previous year, this is Ahsan’s first senior competition final.
During the semi-final match, Ahsan overcame the seasoned cueist Babar Masih. In the final, he will face Mohammad Sajjad, a seasoned competitor.
Ahsan, who was ranked 14th, dominated the first two frames of the semi-final at the NBP sports complex. Despite losing the third frame, he came back to win the fourth to preserve the 3-1 advantage.
Babar, a seasoned cueist who recently competed in the final of the IBSF 6 Reds World Cup, didn’t let the youngster have it easy. Babar came back from 1-3 deficits to win three straight sets to take the lead 4-3.
But Ahsan refused to give in to the pressure and restored his lead by winning the 8th and 9th frames, before Babar levelled the score at 5-5 with a fantastic cue control show in the 10th game.
