All international credit cards will now be accepted by Saudi Arabia for purchases made by Hajj and Umrah pilgrims inside the Kingdom, according to the country’s announcement. With this new development, pilgrims will be able to make a range of purchases with their credit cards, including as food, lodging, and shopping.
The choice is a result of the Kingdom’s attempts to improve tourist experiences by streamlining the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimage processes. It will no longer be necessary for pilgrims to worry about bringing huge sums of cash or exchanging currencies, which may be cumbersome and time-consuming.
When flying to the Kingdom to carry out the minor pilgrimage, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah also cautioned travellers against bringing huge sums of cash or pricey objects, such as gold bullion, precious stones, and priceless precious metals.
The government has also advised pilgrims to download bank apps from approved websites, refrain from revealing their bank account information or sending money to strangers, and ignore text messages from shady sources. Pilgrims are recommended to alert the ministry or the authorities if they suspect fraud or become its victim.
