All provinces, excluding Punjab, are self-sufficient in gas production: OGRA.

Barring Punjab, all provinces, with Sindh being the largest producer of natural gas, are self-sufficient in gas output.

It was revealed by the Oil and Gas regulatory agency (OGRA) officials during a gathering of the Senate’s Functional Committee on Problems of Less Developed Areas.

According to OGRA, Punjab produces 92 MMCF of gas and consumes 950 MMCF while Sindh produces 2,225 MMCF and consumes 1,562 MMCF.

On the opposite hand, Balochistan produces 651 MMCF of gas and consumes 405 MMCF while KP produces 366 MMCF of gas and consumes 317 MMCF.

Chairman Committee, Senator Usman Khan Kakar, lamented that a big share of Balochistan’s gas is supplied to other provinces and most parts of the province remain without gas to the present day.

In addition, the Chairman directed officials of OGRA to ensure that during winters, gas pressure remains stabilised in cold areas.
