Another Major Chinese Automaker Car to Be Introduced by Sazgar

Although other entrants to the market have been very vocal about their progress and accomplishments in recent months, Sazgar Engineering Works Limited (SEWL) has been operating in silence.

SEWL is the same company that, in collaboration with BAIC (one of China’s largest automakers) has started operations under a Greenfield status granted by Pakistan’s Automotive Development Policy (ADP) 2016-21.

SEWL has issued an official statement saying that, in addition to BAIC, the company has entered into an agreement with another Chinese automaker. The name of the corporation with which the agreement was signed is not mentioned in the statement. On the other hand, SEWL has announced that it has signed an agreement with “a well-known Chinese car manufacturer.”

This is an interesting development because, while bringing in another automotive business would be beneficial to the Pakistani economy, job market, and auto sector in general, SEWL’s activities surrounding BAIC’s arrival raise serious doubts about whether it would be the right move for the company at this time.

According to reports, BAIC will introduce its passenger car lineup in Pakistan in the second quarter of 2021. The company, on the other hand, has not disclosed any information about its plans for the Pakistani market.
