Another PIA Employee ‘Goes Missing’ in Canada

The repeated disappearances of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight attendants in Canada have raised serious concerns for the airline’s reputation and operations. Junaid Qureshi, the latest crew member to go missing, adds to a growing list that includes Khalid Afridi and Fida Shah. PIA management’s swift suspension of Qureshi and collaboration with Canadian authorities indicate a proactive approach, but the recurring incidents may lead to increased scrutiny.

With eight employees reportedly missing in North America over the past two years, the airline faces reputational risks. PIA’s response includes implementing stricter policies, such as an age limit for cabin crew, to address the issue. However, the challenge extends beyond internal measures, as these incidents could prompt Canadian authorities to consider imposing restrictions on the airline. This potential fallout could compound existing problems for PIA, including a fuel crisis and the suspension of flights to the UK and Europe.

To safeguard its reputation and maintain international operations, PIA needs comprehensive solutions to address the root causes of these disappearances. Timely and transparent collaboration with Canadian authorities, alongside internal reforms, will be crucial to mitigate the risks associated with the repeated incidents and maintain the airline’s standing in the global aviation industry.
