Apple’s Watch Car Crash Detection Feature Saved 5 People after Accident

In a recent incident in Canada, five individuals were rescued after a car accident, and the credit goes to the Car Crash detection feature available in Apple Watches. This technology, introduced by Apple in 2022, is designed to enhance user safety in the case of vehicular accidents. The feature utilizes a sensor embedded in both iPhones and Apple Watches to automatically alert emergency services when it detects a car crash.

According to a report from KTLA 5, the specific incident took place on the 15 Freeway at Jurupa Avenue in Ontario, San Bernardino. The Car Crash detection feature promptly notified the California Highway Patrol (CHP), who responded to the scene. Upon arrival, responders discovered a vehicle had crashed into a tree. The affected passengers were swiftly transported to a medical center for treatment, with two individuals sustaining injuries.

This successful rescue adds to a growing list of instances where technology has played a crucial role in aiding individuals involved in accidents. The Car Crash detection feature has proven effective in not only notifying authorities promptly but also in facilitating a rapid response to provide medical assistance to those in need.

It’s worth noting that this isn’t an isolated incident, as a previous report mentioned a couple being rescued after a car accident through the same technology. The compatibility of this feature extends to the iPhone 14 series, iPhone 15 series, Apple Watch 8, Apple Watch SE 2, and Apple Watch Ultra, including Watch Ultra 2. This development showcases how advancements in technology, particularly in wearables like the Apple Watch, can have a direct and positive impact on real-life emergencies, potentially saving lives.
