Army Chief Urges to Focus on “Our Pakistan” Instead of New and Old Pakistan Debate

General Asim Munir, the chief of the Army Staff, called on parliamentarians on Friday to shift their focus towards Our Pakistan, instead of engaging in debates about New Pakistan versus Old Pakistan. During an in-camera meeting that took place to discuss current issues of national security, General Munir expressed concerns about the resources provided to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government for anti-terrorist operations and covert negotiations that facilitated the coming together of divided parties.

In his address, General Munir emphasized that Pakistan is blessed with abundant resources and manpower, and it is the responsibility of its citizens to determine the destiny of the country. He assured parliamentarians of the Army’s unwavering support in their efforts towards the growth and prosperity of Pakistan.

General Munir reiterated that the Pakistani people are the center of gravity and their opinions are reflected in the country’s Constitution and Parliament. He highlighted that the Constitution and Parliament serve as the means through which the people express their views and shape the nation’s future.

The meeting was attended by various high-ranking officials, including Shehbaz Sharif, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, as well as the Directors General of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Military Operations, the Chief Secretary of Punjab, and the Inspectors General of Police from all four provinces.

General Munir’s call to focus on Our Pakistan and prioritize the nation’s development and prosperity is a reminder of the importance of unity and cooperation among all stakeholders, including the government, military, and citizens. By working together towards a common goal, Pakistan can overcome challenges and build a brighter future for its people.
