Messaging application On Monday, after Facebook-owned WhatsApp revised its privacy terms, Signal became the most downloaded app on the Apple App Store.
As part of the revised privacy terms, WhatsApp seeks the right to share user information, such as location and phone number, with Facebook and Instagram. The words have sparked a backlash and user migration to sites such as Telegram and Signal amid questions about the poor record of user data management by Facebook.
Signal was one of Google Play Store’s most downloaded applications worldwide on Monday and was ranked third with at least 10 million installs. Although the number of downloads was not available, it was the highest on the App Store. WhatsApp was seventh in the Apple App Store and was not among the top 10 Google Play Store games.
