Asad Umar, the Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, said at a hard-hitting “All Stakeholders” press conference that Karachi is not begging the chief minister of Sindh for its rights.
Umar then went on to criticise the provincial assembly’s passage of a new Sindh local government law.
Umar stated, “We will come up with a strategy shortly.” “This is a problem that has nothing to do with a political party.” It’s about a system in which politicians rise to power and enrich themselves [at the cost of taxpayers],” he continued.
“Despite their [PPP] telling us that we are in the minority,” Umar said, “we will continue to raise our voices in the Sindh Assembly,” adding that the Sindh Local Government Act 2013 needed to be modified because its sections were in violation of the Constitution.
