Shane Warne, Australia’s all-time top leg-spinner, died at the age of 52.

Warne’s management issued a brief statement in the early hours of Saturday (AEDT) indicating that he died of a suspected heart attack in Koh Samui, Thailand.

According to the statement, “Shane was discovered comatose in his villa and, despite the best efforts of medical staff, he was unable to be resuscitated.”

“At this time, the family requests privacy and will provide additional information as soon as possible.”

The news is the second devastating blow for Australian cricket in less than a day, following the loss on Friday of fellow great Rod Marsh, who died of a major heart attack last week.
