A doctor reported that an Australian seaman named Tim Shaddock, who spent two months at sea in the Pacific Ocean, survived by eating raw fish and drinking rainwater. He was in good condition and stable.
Tim Shaddock, 51, from Sydney, and his dog Bella embarked on a journey from Mexico to French Polynesia in April. Unfortunately, their boat was destroyed by a storm a few weeks later.
After weeks of being stranded, a trawler finally came to their rescue when a helicopter spotted them. Mr. Shaddock had traveled more than 6,000km (3,728 miles) from La Paz, Mexico, but got stuck when bad weather damaged his ship’s electronics.
Without any means to navigate or call for help, he drifted with his dog in the vast and dangerous North Pacific ocean, surviving by catching and eating fish.
