Babar Azam Close to Achieve Another Milestone in Cricket

Babar Azam, the 29-year-old Pakistani captain, is poised to break the record for the fastest 13,000 runs in all formats of international cricket, being merely 52 runs away from this milestone. With an impressive track record, Babar has accumulated 12,948 runs from 269 matches, boasting an average of 49.23, including 331 centuries and 88 fifties.

In the rich history of Pakistani cricket, only four batters – Inzamam-ul-Haq, Younis Khan, Muhammad Yousuf, and Javed Miandad – have surpassed the 13,000-run mark across all formats. Currently ranked 7th in the list of leading run-scorers for Pakistan in international cricket, Babar Azam continues to make significant contributions to his team.

Despite his remarkable achievements, Babar recently relinquished his No.1 ODI batter ranking to India’s rising star, Shubman Gill, in the latest ICC rankings. This shift follows Babar’s World Cup performance, where he scored 282 runs from eight innings. As his reign atop the ODI rankings concludes after more than two years, the dynamic landscape of international cricket sees the emergence of new talents and the ongoing legacy of seasoned players like Babar Azam.
